With postal rates set to rise what are some ways for small biz owners to save on shipping?

- You can put your name in the to address and then put their address in the return address and dont put postage on it at all!!
- Do more e-mail marketing -- e-newsletters and e-postcards, for example. Be certain to build your own list, asking people (including visitors to your web site) to sign up for your e-newsletter, Don't inundate people with e-mail; shoot for (depending on your business) an e-mail each month. Don't have a web site? Then you're out of touch with a huge portion of your market. Look at www.constantcontact.com for good advice and processes for e-mail marketing. The site will store your list, which you can slice and dice for very targeted e-mailings. . .you can choose from several e-mail templates. . .and Constant Contact will actually e-mail your material.
- just do your research. most of my product uses first class 1.11 stamps and when i asked a simple question about how much it would take to mail it next week, he gave me the run around saying he didn't know and that it depended on alot of new things like size and distribution. i went to usps.com and looked at the changes, and it was just table after table... if you're willing to change your packaging, you MAY be able to get this to work in your favor, and possibly pay less. otherwise unfortunately, we'll have to pass the expense on to the customers.. without changing my packaging, my shipping will cost $19 a month LESS than before the change i ship small goods, and from what i hear, the first ounce increases .02, but each additional ounce price actually goes DOWN!!
