Can I collect unemployment while I am out temporarily from work due to a medical leave?

I had an accident in my house and broke my ribs and b/c my job for the US Postal Service requires me to due heavy lifting, I was unable to work for 8 weeks and I had no sick leave left so I was unpaid. Can I collect unemployment for those 8 weeks?

2. Were you released from your employment? Able and looking for a job? You need to pursue a disability issue; and not an unemployment claim. I'm not feeling this

4. When you certify for unemployment, you state that you are able and available for full time work. If you're out on sick leave, that's not true. So, no.
