Are the postal rates expected to go up again soon for first class mail?
Public Comments
- No, not any time soon. The postal legislation signed into law by President Bush on Dec. 20 will benefit both residential and business customers by ensuring predictable price increases tied to the rate of inflation. The new law, called the Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act, is the first major change to the Postal Service since 1971. For our customers, the new law means universal service will be preserved at affordable rates. For mailers it will provide rate predictability, allowing them to plan their budgets more accurately. And for employees it assures your health and retirement benefits are fully funded.
