Can usps tracking not be updated even when you receive the package?

I am expecting to have a package come in today, and the delivery expectancy is today, but usps delivery conformation for priority mail still says acceptance at the place it was originally shipped. it usually updates and tells me my package has arrived somewhere near me, but it hasn't this time. could it be possible i will receive my package today, even though it says it never got here?

1. sometimes they dont update the system it has happen to me alot of times it it said it was going to be there today then it will no need to worri.
2. An expected date is not a promise.There will be delays, it can come before, on, or after the date. And unlikely for your package to come without updates (even if USPS isn't real time)
3. sometime they never get scanned that happen to me twice the package was delivered but it was never scanned as delivered
