Postal Letter

can you use your own stamps on the USPS flat rate box, instead of just buying and printing a label online?

I have loads of 84 cents stamps and 44 cents first class forever stamps that I never used. Can I just stick them on the flat rate priority box, and drop it off at the post office. If I can, how will I get tracking do I have to purchase it separately?

  1. Yes, you can use your own stamps. But make sure you're putting on enough postage. To get a tracking number/receipt, you might be able to do that online. But if not, then you have to take it to the post office. While you're there, they'll double-check the weight to make sure you've put on proper postage.
  2. You can use the USPS Shipping Assistant. With this application, you can print a shipping label, without postage but with Delivery Confirmation and then use your own postage.
  3. The Shipping Assistant software recommended by the USPS representative will infect your computer with malware.
