Where do you drop off a USPS flat rate envelope package!?

I'm new to shipping and doing mail and I was wondering where do u drop off your USPS flat rate envelope , at the mailbox or give it to them at there post office.

1. I believe if you go online and print out a prepaid shipping label (use a credit card) you can leave it for your mail carrier, otherwise you bring it to the post office.
2. Hand it to the mailman, find a usps overnight box, or take it to the post office.
