How do I get my money back from the post office money order?

I gave somebody a money order and he didn't do the service I want him to do. He said he won't give me my money back. So how do I get the money back from him. I am planning to go to the police to make a report on him for ripping me off. Do I go back to the same post office or I can go to any post office to request for refund? Do I need to give the post office the police report, so that they can investigate?
