What is the current postal rate?

Here in work, our receptionist says she heard on the news it is 45 cents, starting Monday Jan 23. I haven't heard anything, except it will be 45 cents in March. She says it went up now, instead. What is it?

1. You've posted in the UK section. Ours is extortionate.
2. Lily is right. The new issue of the £5 note will be made sticky-back so that we don't need to buy stamps any more: just lick a fiver and stick it on the envelope.
3. 45 cents for the first ounce of first class mail. Dunno what additional weight would be.
