Postal Letter

what are the postal rates send letters to an Army base in Afganistan?

Wondering if it is the same price regardless of the Army soil.

  1. If it is an APO address, then regular US postal rates apply, just like sending to any other US address.
  2. You dont pay for postage to Afghanistan. You pay for postage to a stateside shipping facility. To answer you, you pay the same postage as I'd you were sending it only one state over.
  3. For the US Military you don't actually send it to Afghanistan, you send it to a valid US Postal Address either FPO or APO for City and then either AE, AA or AP for State. So you pay the same amount as you do if you were mailing it across town. You just make sure you do not put Afghanistan anywhere on the envelope.
  4. I concur. As long as it a US base then it counts as US territory and the rates are the same as if you were shipping to anywhere in the US. If you are shipping packages they will still base it off of size and weight, though, and that can be pricey unless you use a flat-rate shipping box which you can buy at the post office.
