Postal Jobs, How, Where, How Long?

I moved to Arizona. I want to work for the USPS. But I want to be full time and gt around $16.00 to $25.00 an hour. What positions are out there What do I take. How much will I start out at. Will I get full time Is it a good job. How long does it take to get on.

  1. Best bet is to take a temp position, they usually have several and work your way up from there. Unless you have previous gov't work i.e. military it isn't easy.
  2. You're not going to get the pay you want. I've been working for 5 years and only get $13/hour. Get in line. There's tons of people who want a postal job. Go to usps.com and see what's listed for your area.
  3. You do not want to be a temp (transitional employee). I don't know why someone would say that. You get no benefits and much less pay. Can be let go at any time. The Union will probably not do much if anything for you. It can take years to get in. Thousands apply, take the exam, and guess what, most don't get hired. Some areas are only giving the exams to recently discharged vets. Really now come on. You are posting like all you need to do is show up at a post office in Arizona and say here I am. There is a remote encoding center (REC) in Glendale that hires transitional employees and that may be your best bet if you are gung ho on working for the USPS. However, read my 1st paragragh about being a TE.
