Does anyone know if those ads in the paper for postal jobs are a scam??

I called and the rep said it would cost $100.00 to take the test.

DO NOT EVER PAY FOR THE TEST! Yes, if they tell you need to pay for the test it is a scam. The U.S. Postal Service puts these tests out about every 3 years, sometimes less. They NEVER charge to take the test. If they ask you to pay, it is a scam.

Any job that requires you to pay money for the job, is more than likely a scam. Why would you have to pay an employer to work for them?
they are TOTAL scams! They always make you have to buy something. In real life, you can apply at any postal job without paying.

yes they are, my friend did them, paid to get told to call companys and ask if he can envelope mailers.
If you go to USPS.COM you can sign up for the tests there. They probably aren't a scam, you'd think the post office would stop that, but probably aren't the best way to go about it either.

I would say then, yes, it's probably a scam. Try your BBB and see if they might know. Anything where you have to "pay up front" is not good! Good luck in the job search! : )

Actually , go to monster.com or career.com , they do have several postal positions listed there. and yes, some are if they are asking for money, my son just applied online last week.

No, they aren't usually a scam. You could call or go in to your local Post Office and they can tell the the place and date of the test, that way you know for sure..I didn't think they charged you to take the test though.
I Tried it it doesn't work ..........it took about 200 more dollars to find out ......Go to the gov. website do not fall for that B.S. I went thru Good luck.
TOTAL SCAMS!!!!!! Trust me!!! Me and my husband has tried like 4 or 5 of those things that costs money to start. If it costs money then dont do it!!!!!!
Yes! I work for the Post Office and I know a person that went to one of those "seminars." All they do is help you practice the test that the Post Office will give you to study before the exam. If you want to work for the post office, just go to your local employment office (another one of my past employers) and they should be able to give you information. Then once you apply for the exam, you will be sent a packet in the mail to study. The test is long, but really not that bad.
yes they are a scam - those companies are not with the united states post office - they want you to pay some BS fee - any job that want you to pay them before they pay you is full of bull - even when you apply for a job at Mcdonlds they dont ask for a small fee inorder to work for there companies..... If a company ask you to pay them to work for them, run from them. The only thing you should pay for is new work clothes, lunch, and transportion watt$diva
