Postal Letter

What is the Cheapest way to send a small package through the USPS?

I'm rather confused at the prices listed on the USPS website, so i'm wondering what the the easiest way to go about sending something light (in say a small box or envelope) and how much it costs, and comparison to other places if you have that information. Thank you!

  1. If the package contains media like CD or floppy then the cheapest is media mail. If not, then first class postage is the cheapest. Take care.
  2. Since there are 1000s of weights and sizes, it would seem to me... call me crazy...there might be that many answers. So, ask the experts: http://www.usps.com/
  3. my best answer for you is (a) ask for small package shipping rate , or (b) walk it there yourself ha,ha
  4. Media Mail is not a viable option for very lightweight packages. Media MAil rates start at 1 pound. Up to somewhere around 7 ounces, First Class Mail Parcel Rate is less than Media MAil. Also , Media MAil is very restricticve in what may be sent by that method. You mention a small box or envelope. Thing is, two different types of items. Possibly two or even all three, different rate structures. I think that in your case, with the rules and rates causing some confusion, you would be best off talking to your local Post Office about your options.
