Postal Letter

Which does the US Postal Service use, zip code or city?

If the addressee's city and zip code don't match up, will the USPS go by the zip code or bye the city. I know I got the city wrong, but I'm pretty sure the zip code and the state matches up.

  1. Zip Code
  2. some cities have more than one zip code, like lansing, because they are so big...so zip code
  3. they'll first try the zip. if zip doesn't work, then they'll try the city
  4. They go by both.
  5. The Zip Code. I have had experieinces where the Zip Cose was right and the mailing made it to the right place but also once where everything was right except the Zip Code and it never made it.
  6. Yhe zip is used to move the mail faster. If no zip....has to be manually sorted.
  7. zip code,if the city's small enough, and you have the right address on it,it can be delivered without a zip code.
  8. Go to the next mail office and ask them! If I say zip code, which I think they use, would that calm you down? No. Because there is still a chance for them to use the city. Ask the specialists!
  9. really, you don't need the zip code or the city code, you can find an address with just the street # and state, right??? but, they would probably go by zip code. i guess you'll find out if they send it back to you. of course, the USPS is government-controlled, so i guess you can relate their service with the service you get at the DMV.
